I was messing with the idea of a quirk based around Roman numerals for a troll who's interested in history and Alternian civilization and such, where they'd capitalize the letters used in roman numerals (IVXLCDM) and use them instead of numbers ("the VIII of us are goIng to pLay a gaMe!"). I was wondering whether you think they would be fine to use given that they won't be referred to as Roman numerals, and whether deciphering what number they're talking about would seem obnoxious.

Hello, I have a question, -obviously- about themed trolls. I've thought about my fantroll to be magic-based, if thats possible, and I've already designed a sign for her. I've noticed that, in the lower spectrum of blood colors, the more likely the troll with be more of a "sorcerer" if you will, given that the troll has no mutations in their blood, like Karkat. I'd like for her blood to be a red shade as well. Is this possible not to have mutations and still be this low in the spectrum?

Err, I’d make her a rustblood the color of Aradia and give her a strong psychic ability. “Magic” is a whole nother thing - like, Eridan has a wizard schtick that’s completely separate from the powers of the lowbloods. But yeah, there are a shitload of non-mutant lowbloods who have good psychic abilities.

I’ve seen a lot of people try to do this because of the vampire thing, and I don’t generally see it done well. I guess if you have a good reason to, feel free to do a little micro-worldbuilding and come up with a good, logistically sound way to implement that.

Not “pretty much” extinct, actually extinct, guys. I know you want limebloods. I really do know that. And in an AU, you can have one, damn it. But on canonical Alternia, if you insist on a secret limeblood, it will be a special snowflake, and you gotta own that.

Well I'm in the process of making a troll and I honestly can't find something that says if there's a certain format you need to follow for making a trolltag or a Chumhandle. So do you have any tips? I seriously need help, and I feel a bit dumb for asking...

The format’s pretty simple. It’s made of two complete words, often an adjective and a noun (like ghostyTrickster or gutsyGumshoe), but just as often any simple two word phrase (like adiosToreador or timaeusTestified). The second word is capitalized, to set it apart from the first. And usually the handle or tag either expresses something about the kid or troll’s personality, interests, or themes, or is in some way prophetic about their future development or fate.

Re: Our friggin’ awesome new theme/icon

Dudes and ladies, our sweet admin Q just gave the blog a sassy new theme that I played around with (I think I made it worse) and it is MUCH BETTER than the gross pucey pink thing we had going on, so check that out if you want.

Also notice the handy-dandy bar on the bottom of the blog page thing that will take you to affiliates, links to the mods’ blogs, that kind of thing. Once again, thanks go to admin Q for setting that up. It’s pretty great. I’ll also be writing up an FAQ very soon.

You may also notice that the majestic Bilnye Sciguy is our icon. He will be on your dash often now, distributing fantroll-related science wisdom.

I just wanna say I think it’s so cool that you guys as a community really created a mascot and a personality for the blog that it didn’t have before. You’re great followers.

My troll is pretty much a free spirit, and doesn't like attachments or burdens. However, filling quadrants is a really big deal. I don't really want to change her character (but it isn't out of question), so do you think there's any way to get around this?

Well, you can definitely have a troll who doesn’t like tying herself into relationships like that, but who still has the biological and societal need to avoid culling every year as an adult. I think there’s a lot of fun stuff to do with quadrant politics and deciding how your troll thinks about and interacts with quadrants. Stuff like trolls who aren’t too caliginous for each other, but make pacts to submit genetic material together every year if their quadrants aren’t filled so that they won’t be culled. Or trolls who use quadrant responsibilities to manipulate their friends/mates. Go crazy!

Is it okay if you have a troll that's into telling the future?

Sure. Guys, don’t ask me what’s “okay” and “not okay” arbitrarily about stuff that’s just a matter of taste! No one is some kind of authority on what you should do. All this blog is for is to tell people as well as we can how Alternia works canonically, so that they’ll know what precedents the comic has set when they make their own decisions about their fantrolls.
